Client Overview
The ONGC Officers Association (OOA) is a trade union registered under the Trade Union Act, 1926 (All India Registration No. G-6562), representing officers of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). OOA is affiliated with Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), one of India's largest trade union federations.
In 2026, OOA needed to reconstitute its Central Executive Committee (CEC) for the June 2026 – June 2028 tenure, an election covering 13 posts — President, Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Organising Secretary, Treasurer, and seven Administrative Committee Members — with voters spread across ONGC's work centres nationwide.
The Challenge
Coordinating a fair, verifiable election across a geographically dispersed, pan-India electorate is inherently difficult on paper ballots. OOA and BMS needed a process that could:
The Solution
OOA's Central Election Committee engaged PollBag to run the election end-to-end on a secure electronic voting platform. PollBag's team worked directly with the Chief Election Officer and Returning Officers to:
Voting opened at 06:00 Hrs on 22 June 2026 and closed at 23:59 Hrs on 23 June 2026, with results declared on 25 June 2026 — all on schedule against the Election Notification issued by BMS Gujarat Pradesh on 7 June 2026.
Results & Impact
Following the election, OOA's All India General Secretary formally wrote to PollBag to record the association's appreciation for its role in the election.
“The successful, fair and well-organized conduct of the OOA elections would not have been possible without the sincere efforts of your esteemed team, ‘Poll Bag’. The manner in which the entire election process was conducted — smoothly, transparently, and completely clutter-free — is truly commendable. Your round-the-clock availability and readiness to assist at every stage played a crucial role in ensuring seamless execution.” Sumit Kumar Gupta All India General Secretary, OOA Central Election Committee |
Why It Worked
For a member organisation as large and geographically spread as OOA, a credible leadership election depends on trust in the mechanics as much as the outcome. By combining secure authentication, encrypted and auditable voting, and hands-on 24x7 support through every stage — nominations, scrutiny, withdrawals, voting, and results — PollBag helped OOA and BMS deliver an election its officers could fully trust, on schedule and without disruption.
