RWA Election Software & Online Voting Platform | Pollbag

Why RWAs Are Moving to Online Voting Platforms?

RWAs, the Residential Welfare Associations, are important in managing housing societies as well as residential societies. They play an important role in maintaining the harmony among all the people residing there. They handle the financial management, society maintenance activities, security arrangements, residents' grievance redressal, and overall community administration. All the decisions taken by RWAs directly affect the residents of the society, so the members selected for different posts in the association need to be hardworking and honest. It is important to conduct fair and transparent elections for these societies and associations.

RWA elections were conducted through a physical paper ballot system in previous times. The residents were asked to gather at a designated office area with their identity proofs. They were allowed to cast their votes on ballot papers, and manual counting finished the process with the result declaration. This whole process sounds very challenging, as for large residential societies where thousands of members have to vote on a single day, it was filled with long queues, a lot of paperwork, very tedious voter verification, and time-consuming manual vote counting. On the whole, the election process was lengthy and complicated, and sometimes many disputes arose that needed instant rectification.

With the introduction of digital facilities in India, RWAs are now shifting towards electronic election systems or online voting platforms for RWA elections. The platforms are simple, and the voting process is accessible to all voters.

The reasons for the online voting platform for RWAs are:

1. Convenience

Going for a vote in a voting booth is difficult, as sometimes there are busy work schedules, and some travel emergencies can arise. But if the residents have an option to cast their votes from anywhere using their mobile phones, laptops, or other gadgets without going physically to the polling station, the participation of the residents of the RWA society increases manyfold. E-voting in a housing society is preferred nowadays for its efficiency in time and management.

2. Transparency

E-voting online election software is well known for conducting a transparent election process where proper voter records, secure authentication, and accuracy in the number of votes are maintained. It increasingly helps in fewer disputes and increased trust among residents.

3. Higher security

Online election software is designed with highly advanced security features like an encrypted voting system, one-time OTP verification, unique login credential details, and regular audit trails. All these features ensure that a tamper-proof election takes place in a residential society, which is safe and secure.

4. Reduction of operational costs

Online voting software can be downloaded, and the website allows every resident to click on a link and cast their vote without the expenses related to ballot paper printing or arrangements of polling booths. The election process is more cost-effective when online software is incorporated.

5. Time efficiency.

If you calculate the time taken for the complete election process, which includes voter verification, voter casting, counting of votes, and result declaration, it is found that e-voting is much faster than any other platform. Instant vote counting saves important time and is completed before the deadline.
